Cubaris sp. “Cappuccino” are stunning collector isopods known for their creamy white skirts, rich coffee-colored patterning, and adorable “helmet” appearance. Like many Cubaris species, they prefer stable conditions with higher humidity and warm temperatures. While not the most difficult species to keep, they do best with attentive care and a well-established enclosure.

- Difficulty: Intermediate
- Temperature: 72–78°F (22–25°C)
- Humidity: High and stable; they appreciate consistently moist areas
- Enclosure: Well-ventilated container with deep substrate, mossy hides, and plenty of cover
- Bioactive Role: Primarily display; moderate clean-up
Feeding:
Offer a mix of high-quality isopod diet, fish or shrimp pellets, vegetables (squash, sweet potato, carrot), and plenty of decaying leaves and wood. Provide a constant calcium source such as cuttlebone, cleaned and baked eggshell, or our CalciStone pieces.
TGT Care Tips:
- Maintain a moisture gradient with one damp side and one drier side
- Avoid waterlogged substrate; stagnant conditions can stress Cubaris species
- Cork bark and sphagnum moss make excellent hiding spots
- They thrive in mature enclosures rich in leaf litter and decomposing hardwood
- Best kept in stable environments with minimal disturbance during accli
